The international celebrity boxer, philanthropist and senator from the Philippines decided to spread his goodwill by providing shelter for those who need it most in his native land.

Pacquiao has been buying hectares of land, building 1000 two-bedroom houses in Sarangani and General Santos City and giving them to the poor for free. He is now on phase 2 acquiring more hectares of land in order to build another 1000 units.


According to Pacquiao, this remarkable act of generosity has benefited thousands of people. The apartments in question are made out of concrete and have kitchens, electricity and water connections.

Pacquiao (born December 17, 1978) is from Kibawe, Bukidnon, Philippines. He is the son of Rosalio Pacquiao and Dionisia Dapidran-Pacquiao. His parents separated when he was in sixth grade after his mother discovered that his father was living with another woman.


Manny Pacquiao is the only eight-division world champion in the history of boxing. He has won twelve major world titles and he is the first boxer to win the lineal championship in five different weight classes. Pacquiao is the first boxer in history to win major world titles in four of the eight "glamour divisions" of boxing: flyweight, featherweight, lightweight and welterweight.

Pacquiao has earned 20 million in pay-per-view buys and $1.2 billion in revenue from his 25 pay-per-view bouts. Forbes rated him as the second-highest-paid athlete in the world as of 2015.

Pacquiao faced boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. in what was dubbed the “Fight of the Century” in 2015. He lost the fight but received more than $100 million, most of which were used to fund his housing program.

Pacquiao’s foundation has given more than 200 scholarships and more than $400,000 in medical assistance. He spent an additional $400,000 per year to cover college costs for more than 1,000 students. Pacquiao was born into poverty and he knows the struggles of poor people and has vowed to do his best in alleviating poverty.
